My dad passed away last night. I am fine. The rest of my family is doing fine also. We don't need sympathy, prayers, or anything else that I can think of. But I did want to take a moment to remember Dad here because Johnny Cash was his favorite singer. I've loved Cash since I was a baby, and that was due to the fact that Dad brought his music into the house, not only with albums but with his own efforts, strumming a guitar and singing Cash songs.

When I was 14 years old, Dad gave me my first guitar and showed me a few chords to get me started. It was one of those gifts that changes a life, the gift of music. I'll never make a living with my mediocre abilities, but I've sure had fun with guitars over the years.

Rest in peace, Joe Willett.

Sounds like you have some wonderful memories, JD. That will mean so much in the years to come.

J.D., your father sounds like he was a really good man. I'm glad you had him for your father and I'm glad he had you for a son.........And you are so right about the "gift of music." It's difficult to compare something else to it, because very few things can compare to it, especially when one's father played a huge role in giving them the gift. You've obviously used "the gift" well. And as you know, J.D., ability has nothing to do with using it---it's all heart and soul. Thus, you play very well, my friend.

How blessed you are, J. D., to have such precious memories.. Put them in a special place in your heart and bring them out often.. Dads can't be replaced but you can surely enjoy the good memories and pass them on to the younger generation...

Bless you and your family....

Oh no, Jody. I just saw this now and am sorry I didn't earlier.

I pray that you will be alright. I struggle to find words because I know it's such a deeply personal loss.

Please know that we care and that we will be thinking of you.

Thank you both. And, Bill, I really appreciate your kindness. I know you have your own hurt that you are getting through right now and can easily relate to my situation. God bless! Thanks for your friendship.

It's always hard to lose someone you love. I hope you can fill the void with fond memories, and of course, lots of Cash music.
