To all Hank fans out there!
Hank Williams Revealed: The Unreleased Recordings http://blogcritics.org/music/a...iams-hank-williams1/ Johnny and June first met in 1956, though they weren't married until 1968. "The story goes that my father walked up to her, and that the reason he came (to the Grand Ole Opry that night) was he wanted to meet her. And he said, 'I'm going to marry you one day' here between these walls, and she said, 'Sure.' They were both married (to other people) at the time. That's pretty unusual." G'day Marion,
Thanks for the heads-up on that one, mate. That sort of thing simply doesn't make it Down Under. If a bloke wants to buy stuff like that, he has to import it himself, as I have with much of my Cash collection. I'm not much into Luke The Drifter, but the other material sounds great. As well as JOhn's and Kris's stuff, I used to play a fair bit of ol' Hank years ago when I abused the ears of music lovers with my 12-string guitar and voice. One day, I might even buy myself a secondhand guitar and get back into it. I think I can still play three chords ... Your mate in The Land Down Under, Grahame. Carpé diem "y'all"! edwards.grahame@gmail.com ______________________________________________________ "But I'll try to carry off a little darkness on my back, Till things are brighter I'm THE MAN IN BLACK." ______________________________________________________ SUPPORT JOHNNY CASH RADIO www.johnnycashradio.com. Product Description
At the peak of his career in 1951, Hank Williams recorded 143 songs for the Mother's Best Flour Company, Hank sang with his regular studio band and recorded his hits as well as songs he never recorded commercially anywhere else. From this amazing legacy, Time Life is proud to release the second 3-disc set Hank Williams: Revealed, another historic 3-CD, 54-track collection drawn from the Mother's Best recordings. It's a rare, informal glimpse into the heart and soul of country music's greatest star who passed away on New Year's Day 1953, at age 29. This second three-CD set drawn from the Mother's Best shows includes a little more conversation, and each disc also includes a complete show. The highlights are many. On one of the earliest surviving shows, Hank plays the just-released Cold, Cold Heart without any idea of what it will do for his career. On one of the later shows, his back pain is so crippling he has to sing sitting down. The spinal problems he'd had since birth had been aggravated by the year's punishing itinerary. In the songs and chatter, Hank Williams takes us back to his world. These days, we count ourselves lucky if we find an alternate take or two by any late giant of American music. To find eighteen hours of music and talk is truly without precedent. Set the time machine for 1951. |

You are right, Chazz...I thought the article was about the first set. Now I have something else to add to my "wish list."
"June was my solid rock. She was always there. She was my counselor, comforter, everything else. What a wonderful woman she was."....from the Final Interview with Kurt Loder in Bill Miller's book, Cash - An American Man. |

A different sound engineer has been used on these shows. That is why Hanks voice does not have that high piercing sound that was on his MGM recordings. That is why it sounds so much better

The quality of these recordings is amazing given the equipment of the time, and the fact that the acetates were stored unprotected in a basement for years and years and years! A piece of history saved!
