Spanky's Shenanigans is a popular watering hole in Leesburg, VA. On Wednesday evenings the house has an open mike session for anyone who can sing and/or play guitar. Granted this isn't Madison Square Garden and many of these guys still have their daytime jobs, none the less there is a lot of promising talent and it is worth sitting in and listening to these performers.
I'm more of a photographer and there is a lot of good subject matter for the camera. This picture is of Lenny Stevens. He plays a mean blues guitar. Accompanying him on harmonica and vocals is 'Fast Eddie' Galvin. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Busted, I stood in awe with my camera before The Man in Black. Then Johnny Cash looked down and smiled at me--freezing that moment on film and forever in my head! |

Sounds like a cool place to be
Johnny and June first met in 1956, though they weren't married until 1968. "The story goes that my father walked up to her, and that the reason he came (to the Grand Ole Opry that night) was he wanted to meet her. And he said, 'I'm going to marry you one day' here between these walls, and she said, 'Sure.' They were both married (to other people) at the time. That's pretty unusual." Here's a picture of a drummer and a guitarist from last Wedneday's gig. I'll get their names in the next day or so.
Saturday night I took this photo from a group that calls itself Live Action. I literally had to get down on my hands and knees and stretch my arms for this photo--but I think it was well worth it! LET THERE BE DRUMS... This message has been edited. Last edited by: Busted, I stood in awe with my camera before The Man in Black.
