I hope this is cool to tell you about this.
If you could bring a dead rock star back to life for one gig, who would it be?

John Lennon, Jimi Hendrix, Elvis, Kurt Cobain, Buddy Holly and for you guys Johnny. Or someone else?

This Day in Music are carrying out a world-wide survey to see which dead rock stars people would want to see again - for one night only!

Who would you pick? You can see a full list and vote on

Knowing full well that seeing Elvis on Stage at 76 years old singing Jailhouse Rock , Hound Dog & All Shook Up , may not be a pretty sight ?

I am off next weekend to Collingwood Ont. Canada Elvis Fest. Over 100 Tribute artists take part, and up 100,000 people attend. It is very tacky but tons of fun.The whole Tonw is alive and the singers are in Bars, Street Corners Parking lots and is an officiated contest with judges. As they say " A Real Hoot "

John Lennon for me. I still remember the day he died, and it never set right with me him being shot down like he was.

One isn't enough to choose. What if we could swap some live ones for those who have died... I'd like to do that. LOL

Jerry, that Elvis tribute show sounds like a lot of fun! Have a great time.

I will name one that has not been mentioned, even though I am a big Buddy Holly and Elvis fan...but I have been reading about and listening to the music of Graham Parsons recently, and it would be neat to see a live performance by him.

Just had a look at the results so far, John Lennon in third, John Bonham from Led Zepp in second and Elvis has the most votes at the moment.

I would've thought John Lennon would win this no problem? Freddie Mercury is in forth place, Hendrix is in fifth and Kurt Cobain in sixth.

That sounds like fun, with the King watching from above. I'm all for Elvis since i was 8 years old.
Just reading Guralnicks "Last train to Memphis" about Elvis' early years. My impression is that Elvis liked gospel quartets and ballad songs more than the fast ones. The Rock'n Roll was just part of him, I guess.

that one has a totally different feel than LTTM, darker, etc...but both are so well researched and written
