HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SHIRLEY!!!

Your wonderful Mom and all your friends on JohnnyCash.com wish you all the best for a really fantastic birthday and another sensational lap around the sun during the coming year!

Junebug reports that you are the best daughter a mother could ever desire and it sure sounds like you are great mates, what with painting Nashville red, repeatedly getting lost, misplaced, geographically embarrassed and doing your own bit of storm chasing!! Stories please, June!

All your Cash buddies wish you a wonderful, blessed time on your birthday, Shirley, surrounded by all those near and dear to you. May you have heaps of great cake and much Cash, mate!!

Cool Smiler Cool Smiler Cool Smiler Cool Smiler Cool Smiler

Let me be the first to step up and wish you a very Happy Birthday! Looks like you have visited some pretty impressive sites. Great Photos!

I stood in awe with my camera before The Man in Black. Then Johnny Cash looked down and smiled at me--freezing that moment on film and forever in my head!

Grahame, thanks so much for your nice birthday greeting for my daughter, Shirley. If you look up "perfect daughter," you will see Shirley's picture. She is all a mother could want and more. Shirley is always there, near and dear. She is best friend, confidante, aider and abetter, and works hard at keeping her mother active and as youthful as possible. Of course, we share a love for CASH -- both Johnny and $$. The name of our game is "FUN." Laughter is our answer to everything. While pursuing this goal, we are often referred to as Lucy and Ethel because of our antics and the havoc which we create. To Shirley and me, life is an adventure. Many of our fun and exciting escapades come about through our travels. We never like to say we get lost, but we do often seem to find ourselves being slightly "misplaced." This is even with Mapquest and the GPS. Of course, the fact that the driver is blonde, and I am the navigator could have something to do with it. (What happens in Tennessee, and especially Nashville, stays in Nashville.)

On a serious note, of course, Shirley's greatest gifts to me have been my wonderful grandchildren and great grandchildren, We are f-a-m-i-l-y! Again, I wish Shirley the happiest of birthdays, and look forward to sharing many more of life's exciting and thrilling adventures with "the best daughter" a mother can ever have. I hope she continues her zest for living, loving, laughing, and that all her birthday wishes come true. Especially the one about Nashville.

LOL @ Patsy! I just knew that comment would be made when June asked me to post those photos! I even offered to PhotoShop the bottle out of the scene. June wasn't bothered. Like John, she "won't back down". Cool

(I, myself, never touch a drop. Lips that taste wine will never touch mine! ... and if you'll believe that, you'll pretty much believe anything. Big Grin)

BIG HAPPY BIRTHDAY WISHES GOING OUT TO YOU SHIRLEY!!!!
and hopefully you wont mind if I share with you & all that...among others you share your Birthday with:

Sgt Barry Sadler, (1966 US No.1 single 'The Ballad Of The Green Berets'). He passed on 5th November 1989

Lyle Lovett born in Klein, Texas. Reaching a national audience through MCA Nashville, his eclectic music earns just one legitimate country hit, 1986's "Cowboy Man." The Grammy-winner remains, however, loosely associated with the genre

Bill Anderson born in Columbia, South Carolina. Nicknamed "Whisperin' Bill," he joins the Grand Ole Opry in 1961 at the start of a career that includes his own hits and many he writes for other artists. He joins the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2001

Jenny McCarthy.......and golfer

Gary Player.

And then in 1956, Elvis Presley bought a new Harley Davidson motorcycle, Presley spent the day riding round Memphis on his new cycle with actress Natalie Wood.

The Dave Clark Five performed "Glad All Over" on "The Ed Sullivan Show." in 1964

The Beatles scored their 13th US No.1 album with 'Abbey Road'. The final studio recordings from the group which featured two George Harrison songs; 'Something' and 'Here Comes The Sun' plus 'Come Together', 'Sun King' and 'Golden Slumbers.' The cover supposedly contained clues adding to the ‘Paul Is Dead’ phenomenon: Paul is barefoot and the car number plate ‘LMW 281F’ supposedly referred to the fact that McCartney would be 28 years old if he was still alive. ‘LMW’ was said to stand for ‘Linda McCartney Weeps.’ And the four Beatles, represent; the priest (John, dressed in white), the Undertaker (Ringo in a black suit), the Corpse (Paul, in a suit but barefoot), and the Gravedigger (George, in jeans and a denim work shirt) in 1969.

Also in 1969, Elvis Presley went to No.1 on the US singles chart with 'Suspicious Minds', his 18th US No.1 single.

In 1980 Waylon Jennings goes to #1 in Billboard with "Theme From The Dukes Of Hazzard (Good Ol' Boys)"

So here's to a fun Birthday Shirley & dont let Mom keep you out or up too long that night cause we all expect to see both your shining faces in here the next day with pics and a full report!!!!......LOL......ok??

Have a swell Birthday Week also!!!!

Have a great Day & Birthday week Shirley!

Johnny and June first met in 1956, though they weren't married until 1968.

"The story goes that my father walked up to her, and that the reason he came (to the Grand Ole Opry that night) was he wanted to meet her. And he said, 'I'm going to marry you one day' here between these walls, and she said, 'Sure.'
They were both married (to other people) at the time. That's pretty unusual."

Happy Birthday, Shirley. It has been a pleasure reading your comments and enjoying the wonderful relationship you have with your mother. You two are an inspiration to us all. I, too, have a daughter born on All Saints Day and hope that we can share the good times together that you and your Mom share. Have a great one this weekend and know we are all thinking of you.

Thank you so much, to all of you, for the birthday greetings and wishes.

Grahame, I'm going to have to get you some better pictures of us. It might take a little while, as we've been known to hold the camera out and take 20 to 30 pictures before we find one we both like. That's one great thing about digital cameras. You can delete the bad ones. Of course, in those pictures, we had to get a stranger to take them so we couldn't keep saying, "Let's try that again."

I want to thank Bill and Shannon for that sweet birthday greeting on the Cash Radio station...and how did you guys know I was turning 21?

Abe, I love all that info you gave me. It is very interesting. I've always liked Barry Sadler's Ballad of the Green Beret. I used to know all the words to it, but I've forgotten some of them.

Reimer, we found a lot of humor at the Idol Hour in Nashville. The bartender was a gas. And Patsy, that beer sitting in front of mom was the first one I'd seen her drink in many years. Was that the only one she had that night? Well, what happens in Nashville stays in Nashville. lol There may not have been two blondes traveling, but who would have known? And Busted, we didn't find two guys interesting enough to photograph, but maybe next time.

J.D. We got lost in the most beautiful country in Indiana. I want to move there.

Suzi, we could use a smart blonde on our trip. Maybe you should go with us.

New Beetle, hope to see you in Corona.

Picasio, do you know where we could find a life size Johnny Cash doll. We'd like to take him on our next trip to Nashville.

Cash and me, I love the balloon birthday greetings. I wish I knew how to add those pretty designs to my messages like you and New Beetle.

Jackson 120, Thank you for the compliment. Mom and I just have fun anywhere we go. We love to travel, but we don't necessarily have to travel to have fun.

I really enjoy the Johnny Cash Forum and all of the interesting people. I would write more often, however, my schedule doesn't always allow it.

Again, thanks to all of you for the Happy Birthday. It has brightened my whole weekend.

Love,
Shirley
