Does anyone here know where I can get any books on The Stringbean Murders?

Reimer, Stringbean was a well loved country musician and comedian, and a long-time Opry member. If you ever saw any of the old Opry shows, he was the tall skinny one with the long tucked in shirt, and the short pants.
He and his wife lived out in the country and in November 1973, after an Opry performance, he and his wife went back to their home. It had been rumored that he kept a lot of cash in his home, and when they arrived home, the robbers were there, and they shot and killed both String and his wife. I did not know there was a book on the topic...will have to check that out. "June was my solid rock. She was always there. She was my counselor, comforter, everything else. What a wonderful woman she was."....from the Final Interview with Kurt Loder in Bill Miller's book, Cash - An American Man. |

Thanks Terry. I remember having seen Stringbean in US-TV in 1972, but I didn't know about the killing. Reimer Hinrichs |

Stringbean was also a regular on Hee Haw. It was a horrible double murder. Does anyone remember if the killers were caught?

They were caught and they confessed. One of them died in prison and the other maybe will be released on parole:

I don't know, Patsy. I think in cases like this one it must be hard to judge. He may have changed a lot in 34 years but the wrong he has done can't be undone. However, if he really turned into a good and sorrowful person it could be possible that he is of more use outside a prison than inside. Maybe he can stop others from taking the same path he walked when he was young. On the other hand, I believe 34 years is a long time and, no matter how much he changed, if they release him he will have to face society outside which could be hard to overcome. Will he be strong enough? Here you can read a bit more about his intentions if he happens to be paroled: http://www.wkrn.com/global/story.asp?s=8723737 |

Thanks, Hanny.. I understand what you are saying but to me the judicial system is all screwed up.. There is a lady in Florida that was executed several years ago.. She had been on Valium and had murdered someone.. After getting straight and sober she had been a tremendous example in prison.. She had helped SO MANY women.. But they executed her.. (This is not the woman that they made the movie about..) Somehow hearing this sticks in my craw.. The Florida ruling hit way too close to home for me.. But for the grace of God.. I guess that is why I feel the way I do...
