I am very proud of my youngest son, Cody. He wrote a letter to Bob Kingsley about what Brad Paisley's song "letter to me" meant to him. Cody has heard from the director of BK's Country America's Top 40 and from what Cody has been told his letter will be read this weekend by Bob on his show...

Brad is to my teenage son as to what Johnny was to me as a teen. He goes to his shows when he is here, he buys his music, I have known Brad since he was 15 and he is a good roll model.

Give his music a listen, he writes, he sings, he plays lead, he takes care of his fans and I will say not to many have done the same since Johnny.

Proof the acorn doesn't fall too far from the tree. No doubt you are very proud of Cody.

I stood in awe with my camera before The Man in Black. Then Johnny Cash looked down and smiled at me--freezing that moment on film and forever in my head!

Smiler Smiler

I admire Brad Paisley even though I don't listen to much of the new "country".. He is a good family man and seems to try to do the right thing.. (He married the bride in "Father Of The Bride", Kimberly Williams..)

Congratulations, Craig and Cody!!

That's cool.. Maybe you both wouldn't mind sharing it with us after he's gotten all his awards Smiler I could use a good read other than the "I Still Miss Someone" book written by Hugh Waddel.

Craig, congratulations to Cody ...and I am so pleased he picked such a great role model as Brad Paisley. He is one of the newer country artists who has a real appreciation for traditional country music and its pioneers. I have several of his cd's and he 1) always includes a gospel song and 2) always uses some of his established Opry stars as parters (ala Vince Gill, Little Jimmy Dickens, Dolly Parton) etc. His song about "He Didn't Have To Be" touches my heart every time, as I am the daughter of a step-father who adopted me and was the only father I ever knew ...and he didn't have to be the great Dad that he was, and Brad's video on "When I Get Where I Am Going" is a precious gem ...a tribute to his faith, his family, and the families of those around him, including John Carter Cash, who paid tribute to his parents, Johnny and June. Way to go Cody!!!!

Terry, as I mentioned I have known Brad for a long time, we did several shows together at the Capitol in Wheeling and one in Buffalo. Not to mention our ties to Jamboree in the Hills in Ohio. It was at JITH that I interviewed him shortly after his second album came out and I ask him about the fact he includes a Gospel song on his albums and I said would he always do so. He said as long as they let him....

That is good to know ...as his popularity continues to grow, I am sure he will be able to do just that (ala Johnny). A girl I work with went to high school with Brad, and said he has done a lot for their High School back in WV....he seems to be just an all around good guy!

Good job, Cody. You could do much worse that Brad Paisley for a role model. I love his songs and he is one of the few new artists that I respect.
