A salute to one of my greatest guitar teachers, and one of the most influential musicians of the 20th Century!
I never tire of listening to the old Carter Family records. If sometimes I'm lead to doubt the greatness springing from America's core (and sometimes I almost am), all I need to do is listen to a few seconds of the pure, heroic and dignified sounds of Maybelle, Sarah and A.P., and all my doubts are put to shame! This is the Alpha and the Omega of Americana music. May the Carter scratch ring forever! This message has been edited. Last edited by: Stig Nielsen, |

In Honor Of Maybelle Carter!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G8N3hmOn2u0 Johnny and June first met in 1956, though they weren't married until 1968. "The story goes that my father walked up to her, and that the reason he came (to the Grand Ole Opry that night) was he wanted to meet her. And he said, 'I'm going to marry you one day' here between these walls, and she said, 'Sure.' They were both married (to other people) at the time. That's pretty unusual."
