There's a lot of cd's with repeated stuff, here's a few that I'd suggest that are original, and good starting points. 1. Live At Folsum Prison 2. Live At San Quentin Prison 3. Live At Madison Square Garden 4. Johnny Cash The Legend box 4 cds, overview of enitre career *no american recordings inc though* 5. There are some reasonable collections of the Sun era material out. 6. There are five American label cd's out from the last years of his career. 7. "Unearthed" a five cd box covering the American era 8. Johnny and June 16 biggest hits Lots more, but I don't have time to list, maybe our other members can kick in suggestions too. Bear family records of Germany offers four big box sets, covering the sun years, and Columbia up to 1969, and a box of "Concept" Albums called "Ride This Train" They are expensive, but worth it for the true cash fan. I hope that "Hello I'm Johnny Cash" from 1970 will be released as CD soon; it is a treasue like "Heroes" with Waylon from 1986, which is on CD but hard to find.

Definitely get the 2 cd San Quentin recording as its pure musical history in motion. Johnny Cash the legend greatest hits, as it spans his whole career, although very short, its a great Cash intro cd. The American recordings are all fantastic too. Happy huntin, mate |
