Thanks for the heads up Chuckster. I hope they bring it out on cd soon but still great its out there on Itunes. I've just downloaded it and listening to The Diplomat, a long time since I heard it in decent quality.

Thanks, Chuckster! I've downloaded both "Gone Girl" and "Rockabilly Blues" and it's so good to hear those songs crisp and clear again.
I'm happy that Sony is taking this route to reissue some of Cash's lesser-known or less popular work. I'd prefer they release every album onto CD, but if digital sales go well, perhaps they will be more motivated to continue the reissues that began in 2002. |

I really want a cd release for Gone Girl. I'll hold off on getting it on ITunes for now in hopes that they will release it on CD.
There's more Johnny album releases that have NEVER been released on CD, at least not domestically. I'd like to see them all on CD! |

Merlebuck, I respect your decision not to buy "Gone Girl" on iTunes if you're wanting to save your money for a CD release, and it may just be that iTunes users are getting "first crack" at some of these long-awaited re-releases. BUT, I don't think a boycott will encourage Sony to release more Cash albums on CD - or any other format, for that matter. I'm afraid it will just look like disinterest from the consumers - the fans.

It's not that I'm boycotting! Don't get me wrong...I'm still one of those physical media dinosaurs, and also a little hung up on download sound quality. Enough so that there are so many things on which I can actually spend my limited funds that I very rarely take the occasion to buy tracks off ITunes.
I'd hate to spend $10 on Gone Girl and then see it released on CD later this year. Of course, your point about ITunes sales implying overall consumer interest is well taken. I'm sure they look at it that way, too. |
