Not sure if anyone has posted this. On August 5th, PBS will show the 1969 documentary: "Johnny Cash: The Man, His World, His Music." You can go to www.pbs.org/pov/pov2008/johnnycash/preview.html to see a preview of Johnny and June singing "Jackson."

If I'm not mistaken, lots of the old footage from the video Hurt was taken from this documentary.

Saw it on CMT a couple of years ago. It's definitely worth seeing. And yes, the "Hurt" video used footage from this documentary as well as "Gospel Road".

Yeah, it's a good film. I've caught it several times on one of the cable arts channels and watch it every time it comes on. He did some of his best songs live on it and had a good duet at the end with (I think it was)Carl Perkins.

hey Cortex,

I caught the show too. I really enjoyed it even though I'd seen parts before on previous DVD's. It definately seemed retouched and also additional footage was added. Good stuff.

Yeah, i just now played the old version with the POV, and used Five feet high and rising as the example. At first, it was 100% both synced together, and then the old version kept getting ahead, and i realized, the sound was too fast! In the POV version, it looks like they fixed the sound to where it is supposed to be, and the old footage looked bad, with crackles, and just bright (not bright, but yeah), and made the footage normal color.

I was just telling a friend on youtube about this and I asked him if he could go the PBS website and tell them how much we love it and maybe they’ll play more JC stuff. Image if all of us on the forum sent them an email.

I don't get the opening Mr. Crow scene. It appears that Cash shoots the bird, then he picks up the injured bird and feels sorry for it and sings a song about it. Am I missing something? Didn't he shoot the bird?

..........................................

Well if I could fly like Mister Crow
Woman I know where I would go
I'd leave, Woman I'd have to leave you
But I ain't got no wings to fly
So I guess I'll get by
And I don't know which way to fly
So I don't know why I've gotta stay
If I had wings like a a gray goose got
I'd leave you whether my heart break or not
I'd leave you, woman I'd leave you
I can't make my feet walk
If I could fly like Mister Crow
Woman I know I'd go
