My dad introduced me to Johnny Cash when I was three years old(first memory anyway). He was multigenerational, Arkansas Delta sharecropper who escaped that life by joining the Air Force back in the late 50's. My dad saw a great deal of parody between his life and Johnny's life. He played Cash nearly 24/7 and I was hooked! I have been a HUGH, avid fan every since!

WHAT"S YOUR STORY???

Robbie, my dad died when I was 14... That was about the time that OUR MAN began his career.. His music just captured me when I needed someone.. I have never been able to explain it so that it makes sense.. Just that he became my confidant, I wrote letter after letter to him for years.. I finally was able to meet him and of course, that made him even more real and I will love him forever.. But for him, I don't think I would be here.. I still can't believe he is gone.. at least for now.. But we'll meet again!! Smiler

I feel the same way Patsy. I think The Man and his songs had a positively profound effect on so many people. His songs summerized how most people feel about things, but just can't put it to words. HE DID! Smiler

Cash fans ROCKS!!!

I remember sitting in my parents car in the driveway listening to their 8 track tapes. They were all country and when I pushed in the Johnny Cash tape, I loved the sound of his voice!
My father then gave me one of his own LP's, it was the first ever produced and I was just 9 years old. I then fell in love with not just the voice but the man when watching his TV show. I was transfixed, mouth open and eyes glued to the screen every single week!
I saw in Johnny a version of my father. Two men who loved life, who shared of themselves and who made others laugh!
They were such examples to my young life, shaping much of who I am today!
I miss them both very much...funny thing, one who brought me into this world and I was very close to and the other I never even met. Though I did see him in concert...once.
His life was such an open book I feel many of us felt we "knew" him.

Gwen

And I'll always love you and you'll always be mine.
Forever and always, till the end of time.
Till the mountains split open with the weight of the sun.
We'll rise up together....as one.

John and June you are deeply missed and we will forever remember the example you left with us...
